Short, because there is little to tell: Segue reads your theme to show its own status and nothing else.

What Segue is

Segue is a Shopify app by OCOO Studio that adds page-to-page transitions and an entrance animation (a preloader) to a shop’s online store, through two theme app embeds the merchant switches on in the theme editor.

What we collect from merchants

When you install Segue, Shopify gives the app a session for your store (the store’s domain and an access token) so the app’s admin page can open inside your Shopify admin. That is all we store. Segue asks for one read-only permission, to view your themes: the app’s page reads your published theme’s settings each time you open it, only to show whether Segue’s two embeds are switched on, and keeps nothing from it. Segue never changes a theme, and requests no access to your products, orders, customers or any other store data.

What we collect from your visitors

Nothing. The transitions and the preloader run entirely in the visitor’s browser. They keep a few values in the browser’s own storage: the colours read from your theme, a flag that the next page should open covered, a note of the last interaction so the preloader knows a visit from a click, and a copy of your shop’s logo (read from your shop’s own files to draw it). Those values never leave the browser and are not sent to us or to anyone else. Segue sets no cookies and uses no analytics.

Billing

Subscriptions are handled by Shopify. We see whether your store has an active plan, and nothing about how you pay.

When data is deleted

When you uninstall Segue, Shopify tells us and the session is deleted. Shopify’s privacy webhooks (customer data requests, customer redaction, shop redaction) are answered: there is no customer data to return, and a shop redaction removes any session left for that shop.

Where it runs

The admin page is hosted on Vercel. Session records are kept in a database there.
